24 Hours of Cool Mountain Bike Race

Just wanted to share this one photo of one of my team mates who raced the 24 Hours of Cool Mountain Bike Race this weekend. Since it's been raining non-stop since Friday around noon, the conditions were pretty bad. I've heard many people including pros abandoned the race. Tinker Juarez was seen walking his bike. This photo pretty much sums it all up.

"Flickr Bikes" Photo-Map Locales Across the Globe by combining a camera that knows when it is moving and a wireless uplink to Flickr that's solar powered and pretty sweet on its own.

This is kind of cool but would pretty quickly become really repetitive if the rider didn't venture off their regular route very often.

But this is begging for a mashup game of hide and go seek or city tag on bikes. It would require a mobile device but my iPhone would work perfectly. And then we'd have people chasing each other all over town trying to catch each other.

Sounds like good fun to me!

How to Build an Electric Motorcycle

The never boring and always interesting Popular Science brings us a cool DIY project conversion article called Riding Clean.

It is a step by step instruction manual to taking a Yamaha R1 motorcycle and converting it from gas power to electrical.

If I had the time and a spare $10k, I'd convert my Suzuki V-Strom even the resulting bike will be a bit of an eyesore, never having to suck it up and pay $4.50+ per gallon would kick ass and outweigh a little ugliness.

Oh yeah, also being able to accelerate to 100 mph in near silence (the bike's top speed is supposedly around 150!) would be super sweet too! The only downside to the quiet of the bike would be that I'd have to listen to the nimrods in their chopped Honda's listening to their crappy Mexican music too loud.
