After much too much wanking around with the "new" Blogger, I've returned to the tried and true and slightly wonky old template.
There was no way to add Haloscan in and get it to work despite their wizards to the contrary. So we're stuck with occasionally all blue text and other fun stuff from the "classic" Blogger.
At least it works this way.
