Road riding in Florida just got safer

"Road riding in Florida just got safer -- if motorists obey a law that went into effect this month. It says that drivers must give cyclists at least three feet of clearance when passing them. If drivers don't, they can be charged with a moving violation, fined and assessed points. The previous law only required drivers to "pass safely." It's reported that at least five other states (unnamed) have a 3-foot-clearance law. That makes 6 of 50 if you're keeping score."

Now if we can just get the remaining 44 states to do the same! I wonder if California is part of the elite group of 6 states? I'll have to do a bit more research on that.

Update: via a Google search I found the following:

"Other states with the 3-foot law include Wisconsin, Utah, Arizona, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Oklahoma." as posted on The Biking Bis blog.
