2 rides in one weekend?

Yes it's true, I was able to get in 2 rides this weekend.  Both road rides, but still - Yee fricken ha!  Saturday morning Erik and I headed up to Auburn via country roads through Lincoln & Newcastle.  It was a gorgeous crisp clear fall day, and a bit chilly at the get go.  We hammered out 48 miles, 2800' of ascent in 2:58, not bad!  Instead of descending the usual fast (as in keep up with cars easily) Auburn Folsom Rd, we slipped down Shirland Tract Rd. which brought us back to the bottom of Auburn Folsom Rd.  It was pretty fun, not as smooth as Auburn Folsom Rd. but had some good rippin corners.  We also wanted to check it out as I guess there is an upcoming triathlon that goes "UP" Shirland Tract.  That will be one doozie of a climb for sure.  Erik is riding well and hammered my ass into the ground pretty good.  That's what happens when you get to ride almost every day.  Bastard.  I wasn't quite feeling as strong as I did on this same ride last weekend.  Even though we did it in about the same time, my heart rate was quite a bit higher on the Baxter Grade climb (7.2% for 1.5 miles) - and I could feel it.  My knee continues to mildly irritate.  Advil helps, but I'm going to pursue an appointment with an Ortho specialist to find out what the real problem is.  I've been to my primary doctor 3 times now, and had 2 rounds of physical therapy as well.  Time to see someone who really knows what they are talking about.

Sunday afternoon the in-laws, wife & kid went shopping.  So I immediately hopped on my bike and headed out for a 1 hour loop.  There was some wicked head wind which I battled for a bit, but it made the 12 Bridges Rd climb a bit easier with a wind pushing from behind.  Followed my normal 1 hour training route up through Catta Verdera across the dirt road to Park, then back home.  I think I shaved 1 minute off my last time.
