Photos :: Eagle Lakes to Spaulding

Keith & I had a great ride last Sunday. We headed up the hill to check out the snow line. Started at the Eagle Lakes staging area. Rode the Fordcye Creek Jeep trail (see the 4x4s, badass trucks!) to the Grouse Ridge Trail. Rode a short section of the Grouse Ridge Trail which I hadn't been on before. It was super fun as expected. Lots of technical setcions, both going up and down. Then we connected with the Spaulding Lake Trail and rode out to the waterfalls. This is one of my favorite places in the world. It's just so beautiful, and the sound of the rushing water just seems to down out everything around you. We then turned back and re-traced our steps back to the car. There were a few snow banks to maneuver around, but not too bad. I tried to bomb through a few of them, made some, spun out in others. That was the first time my bike had ever seen snow. A couple of the stream crossings required feet to get wet. The water was cold snow runoff, but since it was such a nice warm day it actually felt good. Just wring out your socks on the other side and pedal on. Overall a great ride and I'm stoked to be back in the Sierras again!
